A commission working with one of Europe's leading workplace design practices, MCM Architects. This bespoke installation was developed for the reception area of the newly refurbished International Maritime Organisation's headquarters, on the banks of the Thames in London. His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester officially re-opened the building in June 2008.
'Dropping Anchor' depicts the major oceans and landmasses of the world in a cylindrical form. Each of the 3,434 pieces of fine bone china, carries the sculpted relief of an anchor. The installation is 5 metres tall and 2metres diameter.
In a letter sent from Kensington Palace following the ceremony, His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester said that he thought Dropping Anchor most appropriate for the situation and sent both Frances and Dominic Bromley his very best wishes for a successful future.
