Shoal743, Fishmongers' Hall

London Bridge, London, England, UK

Shoal743 was created in late 2015 for the Fishmongers’ Company. It is sited in the entrance foyer of Fishmongers' Hall on the North East side of London Bridge. English fine bone china fish, coated in 24ct gold, are suspended in precise formation around the central lights. The number 743 is significant as it represents one fish for every year since the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers was granted its first Royal Charter in 1272.
Regal, precious and yet contemporary this sculptural light piece affords this grand venue a literal reference to the Guild’s origin; a monument to the humble and unassuming fish.
