Shoal388, Katharine Pooley

Croyde, Devon, U.K.

We were approached by Katharine Pooley’s design studio to create a Shoal for the dining room of her newly acquired holiday home in Croyde, Devon as part of a total property renovation.

The coastal cottage, built in the 1800s, underwent significant structural changes to render it a beautiful 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom, coastal retreat. With an airy, natural feel the property exudes a real sense of place, in keeping with the picturesque North Devon fishing village.

Shoal388 is a detail that echoes the coastal location. As a bespoke chandelier, it features a mixture of unglazed and glazed English fine bone china fish, at the request of Katharine, and provides an exquisite focal point above the dining table. The thought and touch of the owner is evident throughout and it is no surprise that the property featured within The Telegraph Magazine in April 2019 and will undoubtedly prove very popular as a holiday rental.

“My favourite detail from the dining area in the Devon @mountainashhouse beach house? It has to be the fluid sculptural lines of the @scabetti chandelier. The bone china fish disperse layers of light and shadow so beautifully. The perfect finishing touch to this Hampton’s coast chic meets English country cottage style interior beside the sea”. Shoal dimensions: 120cm (47”) x 50cm (20”) x 50cm (20”)
