Shoal at Point Neptune
Fowey, Cornwall, U.K.
Point Neptune at Readymoney Cove, Fowey was built in 1862 for William Rashleigh of Menabilly, designed with Victorian Italianate villa features. The Grade II listed home sits on the foundations of a Napoleonic-era gun battery built to defend the harbour and now serves as a monumental entrance to the Fowey Estuary.
The current owners, Sir Christopher Evans and Lady Anne Evans have restored the interior to showcase a marvel of creativity, curated with care and attention to detail.
Dominic and Frances Bromley were approached to create the centre piece above the sixteen seat dining table, surrounded by hand-painted and gilded wall decoration, sculptures and framed artworks, notably the piece by abstract artist Roger Hilton CBE.
Working closely with structural engineer Martin Dickson OCE, this custom built Shoal appears to weave effortlessly beneath the roof lantern in the centre of the villa. Changing dramatically as the coastal light moves through and is reflected around each translucent fine bone china fish.
“I was so determined to have a piece of your work in this house. It means a lot to me… I’m thrilled…it exceeds expectations! Thank you.” Lady Anne Evans.
